On March 26, EdEn co-hosted the event “EU Industry: Kickstarting a Resilient and Decarbonised Industry for Clean Technology” with MEP Christophe Grudler to discuss a burning topic: How can the EU develop competitive assets in the sectors that are key to the energy transition?
With more than 250 in attendance, DG ENER Deputy Director-General Mechthild Wörsdörfer, MEPs from Renew, the EPP, S&D and the ECR groups debated on how the EU can deliver on its climate ambition, while driving growth and competitiveness.
In this discussion they engaged with industry leaders: Marion Labatut from EDF, Gabrielle Gauthey from TotalEnergies, Rémy Garaude-Verdier from EDF, Yannael Billard from Groupe ADP, Andrea Voigt from Danfoss, Nathalie Errard from Airbus, Rasmus Hald Philipsen from Maersk, Jean-André Barbosa from Renault.

PANEL 1
Decarbonisation and security of supply for an industrial renaissance
As the EU is heading towards 2030 and the midpoint between the adoption of the Green Deal and the 2050 objectives, it is becoming urgent to work at both redeploying and decarbonising the Union’s industry. For that, the EU needs to develop the low-carbon and reliable energy sources and networks its industry will rely on, and to boost the deployment of decarbonisation technologies to tackle residual GHG emissions from the industry.

PANEL 2
Building a clean and competitive industry in Europe
The EU has committed to an unprecedentedly fast trajectory towards climate neutrality. Europe must now capitalise on this ambition to become a global leader in clean technologies by developing its current strongest assets in the industrial sectors that are key to its strategic autonomy. On the legislative side, with the NZIA now adopted, the EU needs to assess the available options to strengthen its framework for a competitive industry.
